Land and Sky in the Cultural Sciences of the Greater Southwest
This conference is a four-day event with a focus on exploring native science and traditional knowledge. Native American keynote speakers will address issues of cultural intellectual property, and legal and appropriate use of tribal cultural information. Educators, students, elders and traditional experts will gather in a forum of presentations, demonstrations and discussion on traditional knowledge contained in cultural practices. Native sky-watchers will offer an evening public outreach program hosted by the Lowell Observatory. The conference will also concentrate on creating Native American educational curriculum from the information presented in an effort to return knowledge to the tribes.
